Abstract

This study aims to determine the increase in learning activities through the application of cooperative learning methods Student Team Achievement Divisions (STAD) in the field of biological studies, especially in the material "Structure and Function of Plant Tissues". The research subjects were students of class XI. IPA. 2 Semester I Academic Year 2018/2019, SMA 9, Banda Aceh. The results showed that in the first cycle had succeeded in increasing by 25% (from 62.5% in the first cycle to 87.5% at the end of the second cycle) so it was proven that it had also succeeded in increasing by 15% (from 27.5% initially not complete in cycle I reduced to 12.5% which was not completed at the end of cycle II). It can be concluded that the application of the STAD type cooperative learning method can improve togetherness, help each other and motivate each other among students, which in turn can also increase learning activities and their learning achievements in the field of biological studies.
